Guided Walks
The
Westford Conservation Trust guides nature walks throughout the year.
These walks are free of charge and take place rain/snow or shine. No
sign-up or pre-registration is required.

Snowshoe Walk, Saturday, February 4, 9-10:30 a.m.
Snowshoe enthusiast, Frank Bashore, will lead a walk on the Sassafras
Trail. If there is no snow, it will be a hike. Sassafras
trail is an easy hike with some irregular terrain so
bring sturdy shoes. NO dogs please. Park at the end of Saw Mill Road

A Walk to Nashoba Pond, Saturday, March 3, 9-10:30 a.m.
Trust Director Lenny Palmer will lead a walk on the beautiful Emmet Land,
to Nashoba Pond. Meet at the Richard Emmet Conservation Land sign at
the end of Texas Rd. Walk is hilly and rocky in places. Wear sturdy footwear
appropriate to the weather. Dogs on leash welcome. For more information,

GPS Walk, Saturday, April 7, 9-10:30 a.m., Northern Westford
Rich Strazdas, experienced GPS mapper, will lead us on an exploration of the
woods around Chandler Rd., and teach you how to use your GPS. It is not necessary
to bring a GPS to enjoy the hike. Meet on Russell's Way at the northern rotary,
northeast corner. We will walk to Tyngsborough and back, about 1.5 miles. Dogs

Bird Walk, Saturday May 12, 7:30-9 a.m., Emmet Conservation
Land
Join Westford birders Lenny Palmer and Marian Harman for an early-morning ramble
at Westford's birding "hot spot". We will search Nashoba Pond, and
wetland areas on Town and Audubon conservation lands, for returning migrants
and nesting resident birds. Bring binoculars, and wear sturdy shoes, as land
can be rocky and hilly in places. No dogs please. Park in the Town parking lot
at the end of Trailside Way, off Powers Rd. For more information, call Marian

Wildflower Walk, Sunday, May 27th, 1-2:30 p.m., Kissacook Hill
Westford's wildflower expert, Elana Schreiber, will lead us on a hilly climb
through a beautiful parcel of Town owned land. We hope to find a good variety
of spring wildflowers blooming. We will move very slowly as we search for plants.
Young children and dogs on leash are welcome, but will find that the pace is

Photography Workshop, Saturday June 2, 8:30-10:30 a.m., Stone
Arch Bridge
Experienced photographer Dick Kenyon will show photographers how to shoot great
landscape and close-up photos. Both beginners and more advanced photographers
welcome. We hope to find blooming wildflowers, dragonflies, butterflies, and
beautiful scenes of Stony Brook and the historic Stone Arch Bridge. Bring camera
and any other equipment you will need (including camera instruction book, if
possible). Walk is fairly short and level. Park at the Stone Arch Bridge sign
